Directors’ Circle

Members of the Directors’ Circle are our most passionate supporters who help fund powerful short films from young or emerging filmmakers.

By highlighting new voices, the Directors' Circle fosters underrepresented talent and stories, and helps produce films that offer fresh perspectives on the most relevant issues of our time.

Become a member of our Directors’ Circle by making a tax-deductible contribution to the Emerging Filmmakers Fund.

Join our most passionate supporters and help fund films from emerging filmmakers.

How it works

  1. Make a contribution to the Emerging Filmmakers Fund to become a member of the Directors’ Circle. Our Emerging Filmmakers Fund Coordinator will reach out to introduce the annual grant process in more detail and answer any questions you may have.

  2. Emerging filmmakers are invited to apply and submit their film pitches during the 2023 annual festival and through extensive community engagement.

  3. After the Festival, Directors’ Circle members will come together at an event to review and vote on a showcase of shortlisted film pitches.

  4. The three final recipients of the Emerging Filmmakers Fund will be announced across all HRAFF communication channels.

  5. Over the 6 month production period, you will receive regular emails and given a behind the scenes sneak peek into the filmmakers progress.

  6. The finalised three films will be shown in a special Directors’ Circle members event ahead of the 2024 annual festival in Melbourne.

  7. All Directors' Circle members will be invited to VIP drinks on opening night, invited to the premiere of the three final films, and acknowledged in our annual festival program.
