Key Three: WEYA

HRAFF exists to create an ecosystem of individuals and organisations who champion creativity and human rights. As part of this mission, we are proud to partner with various community organisations who are already leading the way in this regard, to offer three practical steps that our audience can take to join the movement for social change.

Our community partner for the film ‘Farewell Amor’ was WEYA, for their outstanding work in creating safe spaces for young people to tell their own stories, in their own way.

As part of HRAFF 2021, WEYA prepared Three Actions audiences could take after watching ‘Farewell Amor’, and in doing so, be part of the ecosystem of change makers.

Action # 1: Become Pen-Pals with your pollie!

As of April 2020, only FOUR youth arts companies have federal funding. You can help by supporting other youth arts organisations and writing a letter to the Federal Arts Minister calling for more support for the arts.

Action # 2: Donate to WEYA

WEYA humbly ask for your continued support to continue delivering programs and amplifying the voices of young people in the west. If you have the means, head over to their website to donate.

Action # 3: Check out all the west has to offer

Head along to events at some of the exceptional arts venues in the west; Footscray Community Arts Centre, Wyndham Cultural Centre, The Bowery and The Substation. Each venue is surrounded by amazing restaurants and bars, perfect for that pre- or post-show feed.
