Barbershop Punk

He Who Controls the Information Controls the People
Australian Premiere
Georgia Sugimura Archer and Kristin Armfield / USA / 2010 / 90min / Doco
Robb Topolski was only trying to share his passion for barbershop quartet music when he made a dark discovery: his service provider was covertly filtering and controlling user content. What followed would make him the unlikeliest of heroes as Topolski found himself at ground zero of a landmark case whose outcome will affect the rights of every American citizen. In a privatized American Internet is big business “Big Brother”? Or, does the free market protect and serve the needs of the average citizen with its invisible hand? With commentary from the likes of Damian Kulash of Ok Go, Henry Rollins and Grateful Dead lyricist and EFF Founder John Perry Barlow, Barbershop Punk examines the critical issues surrounding “Net neutrality” and the future of the Internet.
